SUSPENSION SERVICE LEVELS

 

PMB Suspension uses Service Levels to rank the levels of service that can be provided on mountain bike suspensions

Service Levels are based on:

  • Manufacturers recommendations: all manufacturers recommend different types of services on different intervals
  • Scope of the service: extent of the service and goal
  • Service intervals: every 50H or 100H of use, or at least every year

SERVICE LEVELS DETAILS

 

SERVICE LEVEL 0: INSPECTION

For customers who are wondering:

  • if their suspension is working well
  • if service of their suspension is still possible (when out of service for year or a really old model)
  • if a modification if possible.

Services:

  • Visual inspection for damage and cracks
  • Check suspension for function
  • Check specifications to figure out feasibility (inspections for modifications)
  • Recommendation for service, repair OR modification
  • Recommendation for modificaton (inspections for modifications)
  • Estimate of the cost of repair, service or modification (if no hidden issue)

SERVICE LEVEL 1: SERVICES (STANDARD SERVICES)

For customers who:

  • want to take good care of the their suspension
  • want improved performance and durability while doing so (PRO services)

Services:

100/50H Fork Service:

  • Service of the lower legs with replacement of the wear parts and lubrication (50H / 100H)
  • Replacement of the wiper seals and foams (50H / 100H)
  • Damper cartridge service with replacement of the wear parts for applicable models
  • Damper cartridge bleed, vacuum bled for applicable models
  • Motorex high performance suspension oil (PRO)
  • Anti-friction seals and grease to reduce friction by 20-30% (PRO)
  • Spring assembly service with lubrication
  • High Performance assembly grease (CaH92) for improved resistance to wear
  • Test damper and spring for function
  • Torque check on safety fasteners (50 / 100H)
  • Test fork for function (50 / 100H)

100/50H Shock Service:

  • Air can service with replacement of the seals, glide rings, wear parts and lubrication (50/100H)
  • Damper service with replacement of the wear parts for applicable models
  • IFP Service
  • Damper bleed with Motorex high performance oil with vacuum for applicable models
  • Re-assembly with high performance assembly grease (CaH92) for improved resistance to wear
  • IFP charge with nitrogen
  • Test damper without the air can for function
  • Torque check on safety fasteners (50 / 100H)
  • Replacement of IGUS bushings when needed
  • Test shock on dyno for function (50 / 100H)

SERVICE LEVEL 2: MODIFICATION AND UPGRADE SERVICES

For customers who want to modify or improve their suspension but do not need a full service

Services:

  • Travel change
  • Cartridge replacement or upgrade
  • Spring replacement or upgrade
  • CSU replacement
  • Lower leg replacement
  • Tuning systems
  • Damping system modifications
  • Spring system modifications

SERVICE LEVEL 3: SERVICE + UPGRADE PACKS

For customers who want the best out of their suspension

Services:

Full PRO service of the suspension with parts and service for upgrade and modifications including:

  • Travel change
  • Cartridge replacement or upgrade
  • Spring replacement or upgrade
  • CSU replacement
  • Lower leg replacement
  • Tuning systems
  • Damping system modifications
  • Spring system modifications

RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVALS

FORK

  • Full Service (100H) is recommended every 100H of use or 1 year
  • Lower Leg Service (50H) is recommended mi-season between full service to keep optimal performance
  • 50H services do not replace full services: if your fork is +1 year without service you need a full service
  • Competitors, DH riders and extreme condition riders need more than one full service every year
  • No service for a year after buying the fork = no manufacturer warranty

AIR SHOCKS (EXCEPT FOX X2)

  • Full Service (100H) is recommended every 100H of use or 1 year
  • Air Can Service (50H) is recommended mi-season between full service to keep optimal performance
  • 50H services do not replace full services: if your shock is +1 year without service you need a full service
  • Competitors, DH riders and extreme condition riders need more than one full service every year
  • No service for a year after buying the shock = no manufacturer warranty

COIL SHOCKS AND FOX X2:

  • Full Service (100H) is recommended every 100H of use or 1 year
  • Competitors, DH riders and extreme condition riders need more than one full service every year
  • No service for a year after buying the shock = no manufacturer warranty

TTX22 ONLY:

  • Full Service is recommended every 50H of use
  • Following the recommended service intervals lower the risk of damage and drastically improve performance
  • Competitors, DH riders and extreme condition riders need more than one full service every year
  • No service for a year after buying the shock = no manufacturer warranty
