Service level and performance

MTB Suspension are mechanical assemblies based on hard parts (metal and plastic), seals, oil, grease and sometimes nitrogen.

As mechanical assemblies, disassembly, check, replacement of worn parts, and reassembly on regular basis is required to make sure they keep their function and performance.

Seals are meant to seals the suspension from the outside, seals internal parts from each others and make sure oil, air and gas do not mix. Seals require a replacement on a regular basis.

Oil and grease will wear out and require a replacement on a regular basis.

Some MTB suspensions use nitrogen and must be checked for the right level on a regular basis.

Depending on the suspension model and the rider's requirements, MTB suspensions require a service every 50, 100 or 200 hours of use.

Service level influence suspension setup as external adjustments will be more or less effective depending on how the suspension is in good shape.
